New FEC Viewer Available
As most of you already know, on January 2 the Federal Election Commission is requiring filing format version 6.1, their most significant update in over four years.
As part of this update, they are also releasing a new version of the FEC viewer. Unfortunately, this viewer is will NOT work with old FEC reports. Meaning, if you try to use it to look at last year’s reports, it won’t open them.
This viewer issue is going to cause some obvious problems, so we went ahead and developed a mini-program to make life easier for everyone. It’s an automatic “chooser” that installs with both viewers. When you click on a report, it will automatically determine if the report is version 5 or version 6 and open it with the proper FEC viewer.
It is very simple: (1) Install the CompleteCampaigns.com FEC chooser and (2) double click on any FEC report, and it will automatically open.
While we developed this tool for our own clients, we’re in the holiday spirit and decided to release it free of charge to the entire community. Feel free to install it on as many computers as you want and share it with your friends and colleagues.
You can download the CompleteCampaigns.com FEC chooser from our servers by following this link:
Happy holidays and have a great new year!

Anti-Spam CAPTCHA Now On SiteBuilder
We have added a feature to our SiteBuilder blogs called a CAPTCHA that should help reduce spam in the comments. A CAPTCHA, which you may have seen online, is a set of distorted letters and numbers that a visitor must type into a field before they can add a comment.
CAPTCHA is designed to keep spamming software from automatically posting comments. Even though the distorted characters are relatively easy for a human to read, software has a hard time. Utilizing this filter will help to ensure that only real people, and not automated spamming software, are leaving comments on your SiteBuilder blog.
You can learn more on Wikipedia about CAPTCHA.
